Spring Meeting.  Saturday 15th. April  2006
A well attended meeting, more in fact than I could include in the attached pictures.  A full discussion on the new show format and its requirements took the initial part of the meeting  I was pleased to inform that we were lucky to have secured total sponsorship for the show with the Victoria Garden Centre [Featherstone], Bag Hill Nurseries, Michelle's Flower arrangements, GT Handcraft, Ironwork Fabrications, and last but not least the venue itself sponsored by  Thorneycroft Resource Centre. All the  sponsors come from Pontefract.
This was followed by a demonstration by  Envirolite Energy saving solutions for the growing world. This generated sufficient interest for 8 members to order units, I have made arrangements for a members discount and also for the units to be collected at our area show thus saving postage.  I understand Envirolite are attending the Birmingham Gardeners World  Show at the N.E.C. they will be at stand no. 6136.  If ordering or purchasing at the show ask for National Begonia Society discount.
The final part of the meeting followed our buffet and consisted of a question and answer session, this was most informative particularly for the new members attending.  The panel consisted of D.Telford,  M.Watson Of Bellcross and last but not least J. Larter.
Our next meeting will be inclusive of the open day at Bellcross on Saturday1st July, could any attendees please give Margaret the courtesy of a call for refreshment requirements.

Spring Meeting.  Saturday 16th. April  2005.
The venue now known as Thorneycroft has seen a major refurbishment and members certainly appreciated it.  All the comforts of a starred hotel and the young lady [Karen], a member of the staff, kept quenching our thirst with a continuous supply of tea & coffee included in the buffet.
The slides on show were mainly depicting a good old begonian Bertie Cruickshank, a perfectionist in his horticulture.  Among many of his hybrids the one he named after his wife still reigns supreme both as a cut bloom or pot plant.  Also attending were Bellcross Nursery with a variety of plants which were snapped up by eager members.
Our next Meeting, on Saturday 23rd. July will again include a mini show with 1 cut bloom 1 restricted pot, and at this time 1 foliage plant, please check the next bulletin for further details
